walls!

Now this is one really cool thing, dude.

Last Saturday Dale and I played around with Dale’s magnificent mobile projection setup. We prepared some clips that I took from Ia’s bit in How The World Began, where she falls and then walks away. We then biked to a wall near a Safeway in Brunswick, right next to a train track. A few kids were doing coin-squashing there and when they saw us they just couldn’t go away – asking Dale lots of questions about the setup etc. A few other people came as well and stayed a bit just enjoying the pieces that we worked on – Dale also showed some of his pieces, and the kids played with their shadows.

Right now I’m working on a new piece again and gosh am I excited! The basis of the ideas now is that they’re things that happen on a 2-dimensional surface, and that the framing has to be moving. This is the real video graffiti. It’s really time-based graffiti, and what I really love about it is that it’s ephemeral but repeatable.

It’s gonna take time to do the pieces now – I’m working on the first one and 2 others are coming soon. This coming Friday, HorseBazaar’s gonna have a mobile projection setup – let’s see if I could do it there … otherwise I’m gonna ask Dale again.

Will try to post the clips here once I’ve finished.
