geography.

The world is definitely too big.

It is too big because I miss my friends on the other side of it, and I know I won’t be able to see them unless their trajectories somehow coincide with mine. And I do miss them.

I miss Anita, and I long for a long conversation with her that is also long overdue. I miss Abraham, it has been long enough. I miss Suchi, I wonder what she has done with all her food, concrete or otherwise. I miss Marie. I miss you, and you. I do miss you.

Digital encounters cannot replace this. It cannot, for it is only constructed by ones and zeroes, and a friend’s presence is much more complex than any ones and zeroes put together in any kind of way.

Geography is limited by time. And ah, how time is money. And the choices you make. And the fact that you are limited, like geography is. And that even when I am next door, it does take me a while to get to know you. The world is simply too big for the little time we have.
