Once upon a time in a world far far behind, human would have merely been one of the mammals, lacking the boxes in which they put themselves in order to try to understand. Many individuals might have died with their mental disorders simply unnoticed. They were only either weird or eccentric or just like that zany baker from across the street.

Perhaps they didn’t suffer as much as we do now, because their weirdness, their eccentricity, was yet to be defined? Or did they suffer more, perhaps, because they didn’t have the option to see themselves as individuals?

What came first, the disorder, or the definition?

I always wonder.
